Player Terms of Service

These Terms govern your account, use of Sacrifice.pro and participation in its chess Competitions. Competition-specific rules are made available before you join and form part of your agreement. They specify the sporting format and settlement rules; they cannot authorise Sacrifice to use Stakes as its own income or reduce your statutory rights.

Before joining, you must be able to review the Stake, Participation Fee, Total Entry Amount, prize allocation, commitment deadline, withdrawal rules and any applicable attendance requirements. We record the version of the Terms and Competition rules accepted for your entry.

Sacrifice supplies its own participation service and separately holds and administers the participants’ Prize Pool under these Terms. Outcomes are determined by chess performance and the published rules. We do not offer bookmaker services, odds on external events or bets on third-party events.

Sacrifice, we, us

Sacrifice Games Ltd, the operator of Sacrifice.pro and supplier of the platform and competition services.

Competition

A chess match or tournament governed by rules shown before you join, including its format, eligibility, schedule, settlement and prize allocation rules.

Stake

Money contributed by a player, risked in a Competition and returned as winnings to the winning player or players under its rules. A Stake is allocated entirely to the Prize Pool. It is separate from the Participation Fee and is not payment for services supplied by Sacrifice. If the Competition is cancelled, the Stake is returned to its contributor.

Participation Fee

The separate charge for the supply of the right to participate in a Competition, including the associated platform, hosting and administration services. Platform Fee, Entry Fee and Competition Participation Fee mean this same service charge, excluding the Stake.

Total Entry Amount

The combined Stake and Participation Fee payable to join a Competition. It is not another fee. Each component and the total must be shown before you commit.

Prize Pool

The Stakes committed to a Competition, together with separately identified additional prize funding from Sacrifice, a sponsor or another contributor.

Winnings or Competition Prize

The amount allocated to an entitled player from a Prize Pool under the Competition rules, subject to any properly applied result review.

Wallet Balance

Your recorded cash entitlement on the platform. Available balances, committed Stakes, amounts under review and pending withdrawals are identified separately. A non-cash promotional ticket is not a cash Wallet Balance.

Client Funds

Money held for participants and other entitled clients, including cash Wallet Balances, committed Prize Pools, Winnings awaiting payment, pending withdrawals and refunds, and Participation Fees which remain refundable. This definition describes the contractual category; it does not itself establish a trust or insolvency protection.

Payout

Payment of an available cash entitlement to you through the supported withdrawal process. Crediting Winnings to your wallet records your entitlement; it is not an external Payout.

You must be at least 18, legally capable of entering this agreement, and permitted to participate in paid skill competitions where you are located. Provide accurate identity, residence and payment information and maintain only one personal account. Do not use another person’s identity or payment instrument without lawful authority.

Keep your login details secure and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access. We may request proportionate identity or payment verification and restrict transactions where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, comply with law or protect an account. We explain the reason and the information needed unless legally prevented from doing so.

An account restriction or closure does not itself transfer your money to Sacrifice or cancel your entitlement to an undisputed balance. Outstanding Competitions and withdrawals are dealt with under the settlement, review and closure provisions below.

You pay two distinct amounts when entering a paid Competition: the Stake contributed to the participants’ Prize Pool, and the Participation Fee charged by Sacrifice for the right to participate. Your Stake is not consideration for a supply of services by Sacrifice. Your Participation Fee is consideration for that supply.

100% of each Stake is allocated to its Prize Pool and distributed to the winning player or players under the Competition rules, or returned to its contributor if the Competition is cancelled. Sacrifice takes no commission, rake, administration charge or other deduction from Stakes or Winnings.

For example, a Total Entry Amount of £10 may comprise a £9 Stake and a £1 Participation Fee. Two players entering on those terms contribute £18 to the Prize Pool and pay £2 in Participation Fees. The actual amounts are shown for each Competition; this example does not fix a universal fee rate.

Participation Fees include any applicable VAT. The displayed total is the amount you authorise. We do not deduct VAT or other company tax liabilities from Stakes or Winnings. Any club revenue share is paid from Sacrifice’s Participation Fee, not from the Prize Pool.

Sacrifice bears its payment processing charges and operating losses. These costs do not reduce your Stake, Winnings or Wallet Balance. A demonstrably mistaken or unauthorised credit may be corrected through the review process; ordinary company costs are not a reason to make such a correction.

Under this arrangement, Sacrifice holds and administers Stakes as stakeholder for the participants under the Competition rules. Stakes are not available for Sacrifice’s beneficial use, operating expenses, lending, security or payment of company debts. Sacrifice’s role is to receive, record, commit, distribute or return those funds as authorised by these Terms.

Before commitment, your available Wallet Balance is recorded for you. On entry, your Stake becomes committed to the Competition and cannot be withdrawn except under its withdrawal, cancellation or settlement rules. Commitment does not make the Stake company revenue. After settlement, the allocated Winnings are recorded for the entitled players.

We must hold cash backing Client Funds separately from money available for company operating expenditure and maintain records identifying each entitlement and its status. Moving a Stake into a Prize Pool, awarding Winnings to a wallet or requesting a withdrawal must not cause the same obligation to be omitted or counted twice.

A Participation Fee remains a refundable client obligation until the applicable service and refund conditions are satisfied. We may transfer only properly earned company fees and other amounts to which the company is legally entitled, while preserving the cash required to cover all remaining Client Funds. We do not need to close every wallet before releasing earned fees.

A pending withdrawal or refund remains recorded until payment is completed or its status is otherwise resolved with evidence. Payment delays, provider deductions and company funding shortfalls do not extinguish your entitlement. Sacrifice must fund its own costs and any required restoration of client-money cover.

Competition rules state how the Prize Pool is calculated and allocated, including ties, draws, no-shows, disqualifications and any rounding. We do not retain an unallocated remainder of player Stakes as company revenue. The rules must identify how the entire pool is distributed or returned.

Player-funded Stakes and any sponsor or company-funded additions are identified separately. An advertised guaranteed addition must be funded before entries are accepted against that commitment. We do not describe an unfunded future contribution as money already held for players.

Once your entry is accepted, we do not reduce your agreed prize allocation rules or increase your Participation Fee retrospectively. A variable pool may change as entrants join or validly withdraw, as disclosed before entry. Material changes to an accepted Competition require your agreement or an opportunity to cancel with a full return of your Stake and Participation Fee.

On completion and resolution of any relevant result review, we allocate the Prize Pool to the entitled players’ wallets. An allocation is the distribution of the pool under the agreed rules, not a discretionary gift. Result review may affect who is entitled to Winnings; it does not authorise Sacrifice to take the pool for itself.

If a Competition is cancelled, we return each player’s Stake and refund their Participation Fee in full, including any VAT included in that fee. We deduct no processing or administration costs. This applies whether cancellation occurs before or after play starts; a completed Competition settled under its rules is not a cancellation.

Before entry, we disclose the deadline for withdrawing voluntarily. If you withdraw within that permitted window, we return your Stake and Participation Fee in full. After commitment, you cannot undo a valid sporting loss by withdrawing; your Stake is settled under the Competition rules. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

The Participation Fee is earned for providing the agreed right to participate when the Competition starts and that right is made available to you, subject to the cancellation and service-failure remedies in these Terms. Non-attendance alone does not mean we failed to provide that right.

For technical interruptions, the published rules explain whether play resumes, is rescheduled by agreement or can be fairly settled on completed play. If the Competition is cancelled, both amounts are refunded in full. If our service was not supplied with reasonable care and skill, your statutory remedies remain available even where a Competition was not cancelled.

We initiate an established refund without undue delay and tell you the amount, destination and expected processing time. A wallet credit does not require you to enter another Competition: you may request payment out of an available cash refund. Any verification or payment restriction must have a lawful, proportionate basis.

Promotional tickets and non-cash credits are restored under their disclosed promotional rules rather than converted into a cash refund. Any cash Stake or Participation Fee you paid remains covered by the cash refund rules above. Promotional terms cannot remove your rights in cash Winnings already validly allocated to you.

Read the promotional ticket terms. For cash Stakes, Participation Fees and Winnings, the protections in these Terms prevail over any conflicting promotional provision.

Follow the published chess rules, time controls and attendance requirements. For head-to-head matches with no-show enforcement enabled, the No Show Policy requires you to click Ready within 15 minutes of each game becoming available. A no-show may forfeit the entire match, regardless of earlier scores; if neither player is ready, the match may be settled as a no-show draw.

A no-show forfeiture or draw is a sporting settlement under the disclosed rules, not automatically cancellation of the Competition. A cancelled individual game within a settled match does not itself cancel the entire Competition. The published rules must explain the resulting allocation of Stakes and treatment of Participation Fees.

Do not use chess engines or outside playing assistance, collude, manipulate results, impersonate another player, harass others or interfere with the platform. We may take proportionate action for a supported breach, including disqualification or account restrictions, subject to the review process below.

Read the No Show Policy

We may temporarily restrict the affected Winnings or transaction where there are reasonable grounds to investigate a result, payment or account. We identify the affected amount, explain the reason as far as law and investigation integrity permit, and provide a route to respond. We keep restrictions proportionate and review them while the matter remains open.

A review does not make the affected money Sacrifice’s property. We do not confiscate an entire unrelated Wallet Balance merely because an account is suspended or closed. Any result reversal must follow the accepted rules and identify the players entitled to the affected Prize Pool.

You may challenge a decision through support and provide relevant evidence. We give a reasoned outcome and a means to request reconsideration. Our internal decision does not remove your right to seek a legal remedy.

If a result or credit is corrected, we explain the amount and basis and record the resulting allocation or refund. Recovery of money already paid out requires a lawful basis; these Terms do not grant an unrestricted right to debit unrelated money or recover company losses from you.

You may request withdrawal of an available cash balance through the supported payment methods. Applicable verification requirements, method limits and expected processing times are disclosed before the request. We do not require further play as a condition of withdrawing available cash Winnings or refunds.

Committed Stakes and genuinely disputed amounts are shown separately from available money. We explain any hold affecting your withdrawal, what is needed to resolve it and material changes to the expected timing, unless disclosure is prohibited by law.

You may ask to close your account. We settle or refund open Competitions under their rules and arrange payment of your available balance. Closure is not a forfeiture of Client Funds. Any continuing lawful restriction applies only as necessary to resolve the relevant matter.

The restrictions in section 5 are contractual commitments governing how Sacrifice must handle Client Funds. A separate account and a client-money record do not, by themselves, establish protection against company insolvency or the claims of banks, payment providers or creditors.

We do not represent that an escrow arrangement, legal trust, independent trustee or insolvency guarantee is in place. The legal ownership, account arrangements, third-party rights and procedure for distributing funds on business failure remain unverified. You should not treat the contractual restrictions on our use of Client Funds as a guarantee of insolvency protection.

If we cease operating while able lawfully to administer funds, we stop accepting new paid entries, settle or cancel open Competitions under these Terms and arrange the return of remaining available Client Funds. Sacrifice bears its own wind-down costs. In insolvency, access, distribution and any shortfall depend on the legal arrangement actually in place and applicable law; these Terms do not guarantee full or immediate recovery.

We must provide our services with reasonable care and skill. We cannot promise uninterrupted availability, but an interruption does not remove your refund or other statutory rights. We explain material service issues and their effect on affected Competitions.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your entitlement to Client Funds is not limited to the Participation Fees you have paid, and no general liability cap reduces the amount we must properly distribute or return to you.

You remain responsible for your own tax reporting where applicable. These Terms do not promise that a player’s Winnings are tax-free or that HMRC has approved the platform’s VAT treatment.

Sacrifice and its licensors retain rights in the platform software and content. You may use them to access the service in accordance with these Terms; you may not unlawfully copy, interfere with or exploit them.

You retain ownership of content you submit. You permit us to host, display and process it to provide and administer the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal data, including account information and game records for service operation and integrity review.

We give advance notice of material changes and state their effective date. Changes do not retrospectively change accepted Stakes, fees, settlement rules or existing cash entitlements. Where fresh agreement is needed, we obtain it before accepting a new entry. You may stop using the service and request closure without losing existing cash entitlements.

Contact support with your account and Competition reference to raise a complaint. We investigate, explain our response and provide a route for reconsideration. These Terms do not require compulsory arbitration or prevent you using a court or any applicable statutory complaint route.

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Nothing in this clause removes a consumer’s right to bring proceedings in a court available to them under applicable law.
